About Dr. Slaton Case, the author of For The Boards
I’m an internal medicine attending in San Francisco. I earned my MD at Northwestern University and trained in internal medicine at the University of Hawaiʻi.
I wrote For The Boards during residency. Patients—and board questions—start with a presentation, so the book starts there too: each scenario begins with the presenting symptom and connects it to the diagnosis, the treatment, and the next step.
I made it a printed book on purpose. I like physical books I can add my thoughts to, and I look at enough computers at work. I left room for yours: when a question exposes a gap, you can put the lesson beside the related presentation, and over time your notes make the book a reference shaped by the distinctions you needed to learn.
What the book is for
Use it alongside your question bank and current educational references. It is a study companion, not a replacement for a full explanation, a clinical guideline, or supervised patient care. The free excerpts help you decide whether the format fits the way you study.
